Carcano Rifles / Re: "Slightly" pitted M38 Carcano

I'm right there with you, racerguy. I love the "honest wear" look. As long as it doesn't effect the performance of the rifle, I don't mind it at all. I kinda prefer it, actually.

Fantastic looking rifle, thanks for sharing!

Carcano Rifles / 1917 Roma M1891
« on: August 30, 2014, 10:30:43 pm »
Hey guys. I usually don't like to post "what do I have" threads. I've figured out what it is for the most part. A Roma Carcano, made in 1917, one of the 2 years that they ran production at that factory. The stock and receiver match, but from the research I have done, I cannot find any information on the stock cartouche itself. I'll post some pictures below of the rifle itself, plus the stock cartouche in question.

If I am erroneous in any of my information above, please correct me! I am hungry for knowledge!
Below are posted links of the pictures, the file sizes are way too large for the standard attachment uploading system on here.

Damn, that is a bummer. Like stated above, is there any way that Century may be able to send you a different one?

Arisaka Forum / Women and Children's Arisakas at the end of WWII
« on: August 24, 2014, 07:08:56 pm »
So, got an interesting story from a vendor at a gun show on some Arisakas with some chopped stocks.  So, his story as to why the stocks were chopped was that near the end of the war the IJA chopped the stocks of the Arisakas in order for women and children able to use them. Since at that time it was looking like the US was about to invade the Japanese mainland.

Now, as far out as this story sounds, I find it to be false. Just to cover up a shitty bubba hack job. Has anyone here ever heard of these occurrences?

This is my baby. Sadly, I blew out the rollers while using ammo. Dumb mistake, but she's going to get fixed up next time I go home!

Beautiful rifle, Mat. First example of a Civil Guard New England Westinghouse I've seen. Got a Finn capture/purchase myself, but no civil guard numbers!

I've cleaned mine for hours, and hours on end. Rem oil just always seems to find more stuff to pull out of that barrel. ;P
