https://www.etsy.com/listing/199607178/m1va1-gas-mask-bag-wwii-great-condition?  Beginning in 1921 these gas mask bags remained in service until 1944. This particular model is the M1VA1, and is just the canvas bag. This bag is in great shape. almost mint condition with no holes or tears. Both straps are in great shape as are the buckles. This particular bag was taken out of service and designated to be used for training purposes. Perfect for the reenactor, collector, and History Buff.

Yes, the shot shell will harm the rifling.  From what I understand they were used sparingly with the rifles.  However some rifles were converted to smooth bores for this reason  and were issued to police units and prison guards.  I have tried it with my rifle and had terrible results with both buck shot and bird shot.  The shot pattern is far too wide to hit a single target, however it used for say a riot, then they could be effective.

I feel that it is a little know fact that the Martini Henry had a shot gun munition manufactured for it for riots in the colonies of India.  What do you guys think of it?
