Mosin Nagant / Re: Hungarian LPSZ in-stock at Wideners
« on: April 22, 2014, 08:23:39 am »
Update: I received an email from Wideners stating that they never had Czech or Hungarian 7.62x54r and the ammo was in fact Bulgarian surplus. It looks like it was made under contract in the early 1980's for some fellow Communist/Socialist country that uses the Latin alphabet. The crates and tins were not marked in Cyrillic but in Latin alphabet letters. The owner told me he saw LPS and for some reason thought that meant Czech ammo. That doesn't really explain why they decided to use a picture of Hungarian ammo for their stock picture though. I have one of the crates here and it's marked with "contract" and a number and all other markings that are normally in Cyrillic on the crate and tin are in Latin letters. Kind of weird. Dated 1982 as well. I also found a warehouse stock tag stuck to the side that was dated August 19th 2011. I guess its been sitting over here stateside for awhile.

Bummer.  I was just telling a friend he needed to buy a crate of the stuff.

They didn't remove it from their inventory yet. Maybe they're expecting another shipment. Tell your friend to give them a call and ask. They've always been helpful with me over the years.

Not the greatest price ever but Wideners shipping is cheap. Plus Hungarian LPS doesn't show up too often and is pretty decent stuff.

They have it marked as Czech but their picture shows Hungarian lacquer steel case LPSZ. I don't remember Czech light ball coming in 440 rnd tins (I may be wrong) and the pic clearly shows Hungarian ammo so I'm assuming they mislabeled it. Anyway, have at it.

Thanks for sharing the pics, you don't run across the WWF arsenal mark too often.

That SN range falls in mid 1954-early 1955 depending on the exact SN according to Scott Duff's blue book.

Russian is my third language and I'm a bit rusty but it reads to me as the Nagant prototype being compared to the Mosin prototype.

Update: **** 'em I canceled my order. They sent me another 1 sentence email that they now need a copy of my DL. They seem disorganized as **** and take forever to ship. Too much of a hassle for an overpriced beater M44. I'll stick with dealing with AIM, Classic and Wideners.

I ordered one of the solid wood stock one's on Sunday. Just got an email today asking for another copy of FFL that they've supposedly had on file since June. Seems like someone may have lost my FFL on their end at some point. Either way if they do end up unfucking themselves, I'll let you know what they send.
